On Saturday, June 22, we will have shortened hours due to the Indianapolis Monumental Mile. The Indiana War Memorial will be open from 1-5 p.m., and the Soldiers and Sailors Monument will be open from 1-5:30 p.m. All roads around our facilities should be open by noon. However, parking will be available on Michigan Street that morning.

This May the Indiana War Memorials Foundation is honoring Veterans during Military Appreciation Month and Memorial Day with an Honor Garden near the steps of the Indiana War Memorial. American Flags can be purchased and will be placed outside the Indiana War Memorial. Each flag will be personalized with a Veteran’s name.

With a $13 donation to the Indiana War Memorials Foundation, donors will be able to personalize each flag with a veteran’s name to be on display outside the Indiana War Memorial the week prior and week following Memorial Day. The donations will be accepted from April 23 – May 20 and will be allotted to the General Fund at the Indiana War Memorials Foundation, supporting updates and additions to the Indiana War Memorials Museum.

The Honor Garden will be on display on the northeast corner of the Indiana War Memorial from May 24 – June 7. The American flags displayed will recognize all our American Patriots–those still with us and those who have passed on, making the ultimate sacrifice protecting our freedoms. All are welcome to visit and take photos while the flags are on display. Please tag your photos #IndyHonorGarden and help us create a virtual Honor Garden for those who have served. Following the display, donors may collect their veteran’s flag at the Indiana War Memorial Information desk throughout June.

Purchase a flag for the Honor Garden today and commemorate the service of your special Veteran.
