As Indiana transitions into the cool autumn months, many are eager to get outside and enjoy the changing weather—all while social distancing of course. Life events during 2020 have shifted nearly everything we once viewed as normal. As we move forward and discover our new normal, the Indiana War Memorials wants to invite you back to Downtown Indy to visit the entire Indiana War Memorials Historic District using the PocketSights Tour Guide App

The PocketSights App is a great way to discover and learn about the many monuments dedicated to veterans and military conflicts in Indianapolis. Did you know only Washington D.C. has more monuments than Indianapolis dedicated to veterans and military conflicts? The PocketSights App is your own personal walking tour guide that slips right into your pocket. You will be led on a self-guided tour through the Indiana War Memorials Historic District beginning at the American Legion Mall as the first stop, and wrapping up at the USS Indianapolis CA-35 National Memorial on the canal, providing thorough information on each of the memorials, parks and statues, all managed by the Indiana War Memorials Commission. The self-guided tour has 20 stops and is roughly 2.3 miles in length, typically taking a total of two hours.

The PocketSights App is a great opportunity for families with children of all ages to get outside this fall and use the city of Indianapolis as their own personal museum. In addition to taking the self-guided walking tour, the Indiana War Memorials Museum is now open to the public and is welcoming visitors Wednesday to Sunday 9-5!
